Teachers as Governors
Teachers who are governors have a crucial role on the governing bodies of schools, colleges and academies. Through this course, the NUT seeks to support you in your role.
The course aims to:
- extend your knowledge of the role and remit of the teacher as governor;
- promote your confidence and develop your skills, particularly in handling governing body meetings; and
- provide information on some of the main issues affecting teachers in schools, including salary matters, appointments and promotion procedures, conditions of service, budgets and equal opportunities.

Teachers who are governors in all types of schools, colleges and academies.
Where is the course held?
At the NUT’s national training centre, Stoke Rochford Hall, near Grantham in Lincolnshire.
