This NUT guidance document examines the pay, conditions of service and working time of supply teachers. It deals both with supply teachers employed directly by LAs or individual schools and with those employed via supply teaching agencies which set their own pay and conditions.
Attached is a copy of the NUT's June 2013 submission to the STRB which opposes Michael Gove's attempts to remove many of teachers' key non-pay entitlements such as PPA time and limits on cover and overall working time and his wish to see further "flexibility" in relation to leadership pay, TLR and SEN payments and safeguarding. Also attached is the Union's February submission to the STRB relating to teachers' pay, the March NUT supplementary submission and an NUT briefing on Gove's pay proposals.
Attached are the submissions made by the NUT and by the joint teacher unions (NUT, ATL, NAHT, ASCL, UCAC and Voice) to the School Teachers' Review Body for its 2012 review of pay issues, including the research reports commissioned by the joint unions on local pay. Also attached is a report on the NUT's meeting with the STRB and a briefing that looks at the DfE proposals to the STRB and the responses made by the NUT and other oganisations.
