The Government proposes to increase teachers’ pay by 2.45% on 1 September 2008. This pay increase is likely to be below the rate of inflation. In real terms it will be a further pay cut. There will be further pay increases of 2.3% in September 2009 and 2.3% in September 2010 which again will be below the rate of inflation.
