NUT CYMRU Welcomes Action Plan
NUT Cymru today welcomed the launch of the Welsh Assembly Government Action Plan for tackling national behavior and attendance issues in Welsh schools.
Speaking, following the launch, Wales Secretary, David Evans said:
“NUT Cymru was delighted to have been invited to sit on the Steering Group that considered the method of implementation of the National Behavior and Attendance Review recommendations to tackle these serious issues at our schools.
Every meeting was extremely positive and has resulted in the development of the Plan, launched today, to address these concerns. Pupil behavior and disaffection with schools is recognised as the biggest threat to a child’s success during the most important formative part of their years. The fact that we now have a model to use to address those concerns is to be applauded and is very welcome.
NUT Cymru will continue to be involved as the Plan is implemented and developed further. These are important times and input from the teaching profession is vital if the proposals are to succeed.”
